On December 24, 1948, the United States Air Force gave an explanation that they had recognized "early cautioning radar net toward the north: one unidentified sleigh, fueled by eight reindeer, at 14,000 feet, heading 180 degrees." The Associated Press distributed articles passing this "report" along to the overall population. This denoted the first occasion when that the United States Armed Forces gave an announcement about following Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve this year, you can call the United States Airforce to get a report on Santa's area.
